Hawaii 5-0 fic: The Black Herald
May. 15th, 2017 09:19 amSo I wrote a fic. Saphira cheerleaded the fic on LJ and a couple of folk chimed in here and there and offered encouragement. I actually found this way of writing was a fun way of writing. Having an audience and someone to talk about the bits kept me focused. I’m kind of thinking having an audience list/cheerleader filter could be a good way of writing. It wouldn’t just be fanfic but original stuff, which I am thinking more and more about.
Any rate, I’ve started posting the fleshed and polished version of The Black Herald to AO3. This fic is based on Mercedes Lackey’s Heralds of Valdemar series, which I’ve enjoyed for decades.
Writing the story was a total indulgence. I enjoyed wallowing in some tropes like a happy pig in the mud. I make no apologies. It is an interesting thing about fanfic that we have our favs, in this case platonic bed sharing. There is also a lot of food *rolls eyes*. I am thinking that the next fic I write will have no bloody food in it. On the subject of ‘bloody’ one thing I could indulge in this story was the colloquial language – that was fun.
However, despite the fun aspects (on my part), the fic is pretty dark in places, definitely read the warnings and check the tags. If you have any questions feel free to ask. There is a happy ending, as I couldn’t write a story without a happy ending.
