Oh, I loved this. Your Grant-in-Atlantis stories are always terribly appealing with Rodney's sudden loud protectiveness and John with Grant is adorable, so laid-back and kind. Fantastic developing plot and world-building here.
It was lots of fun to see McGarrett (who is totally nuts!) and the rest of H50 from an outsider POV. McGarrett and Danno's interactions were especially powerful with their crazy co-dependence and emotional neediness for each other. Oh, my heart. *clutches* H50 canon has it just like that -- over the top and ridiculous but it must be true because that really just happened. Or at least, that's my reaction to most of the stuff they pull with each: "Did they really just do that?"
But of course, my favorite was John. And his baffled, competent acceptance of all of the weird shit that went down. I love seeing John be John, exactly as weird and awkward as that implies, while still being clearly a capable commander. YAY TEAM.
