Honestly, it's glorious out there. and I'm stuck on the sofa sneezing my head off. if i go out I'll probably cough up a lung. Also if I scratch my skin off people might notice.
::pets soothingly, with aloe:: I completely hear you. Spring and Fall are my favorite times of very in terms of the weather, but the very most miserable in terms of allergies!
i have resorted to the tried and tested wadded up bits (heh heh) of loo roll stuffed up my nose and aggressive Dyson vacuuming, and mopping everything over with antiseptic wipes.
That's awful and miserable. I can't even imagine, being more or less allergy free. I say "more or less" because I suspect I might have developed some mild allergy against something over the last few years, since sometimes my eyes just tear up and my nose is clogged at some times during the day without it being like a cold (though I haven't figured out a clear pattern so far so I could avoid anything). But nothing so awful that I couldn't ignore it, and I hope it stays that way. *knocks on wood*
Me too. I never really realized you could still develop serious allergies as an adult before my brother got a horse allergy that at first was something fairly harmless like a mild skin rash and red eyes when he was actually on a horse for a long time a few years ago (he first found out about it in Central Asia on a horseback trip, when he never used to have trouble with horse contact before), but last year ended him up in an emergency room with severe respiratory problems because he had accompanied his daughters to riding lessons and didn't stay away far enough, and now he has like these emergency supplies and his kids have to decontaminate themselves and all their stuff after they go riding (with other people, though he is really sad about missing out, for him his kids being horsecrazy is the worst).
Well, my brother's serious respiratory troubles were not so sudden that they came on like an attack, like some dramatic movie thing, he is just an idiot who thought his worsening state would somehow get better on its own, so he waited for hours and it just got worse and worse until it was a real emergency.
So far my only bad reactions have been to mosquito bites, which swell really badly for me though not with respiratory issues. But there might be a family sensitivity because my younger niece actually reacts even worse to mosquitoes, and also to wasps (I've never been stung by one so I don't know whether I'm sensitive), and with the latter she had actually needed an emergency room for her reaction. So yeah, I am wary of my insect reactions too. Mostly I try to avoid any bites with insect screens and using repellants.
I have to admit, I'd had the process described to me, and .... I can't. I can't. I mean ewwwwwwww When water goes accidentally up your nose it's absolutely awful.
Doc's given me steroids. Which isn't perfect, but bah humbug.
I have had great luck with the nasal rinse thing. I use it whenever I come in from outside, in addition to first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I also change my furnace filters every month.

(BTW, I'm re-reading the Co-Op from the start and I just wanted to thank you again for writing this wonderful story. ♥ I'm so much in love with it.)
