downloading youtube videos

can anyone recommend how to do this in a uncomplicated manner? I looked on google for ways and there's like upwards of 100 different posts through a variety of methods.

I need a couple of short vids to use in a presentation for uni.

I use the program: Youtube Downloader. Saves to .flv file format.

I use http://www.keepvid.com - you copy-paste the Youtube URL, and have your choice of several formats to download it in (I usually do MP4, because I can play it in most of the programs I have).

It launches a Java applet when you load the page, but I've never had trouble with it, so the thought had not occurred to me that other people might.
